Triona TRE (Transport Routing Engine) is an advanced software platform for route optimization and route calculation. TRE allows several types of distance, journey time, and route calculations to be made and can be configured for pedestrians, bicycles, motor vehicles, trucks and other heavy goods vehicles. It can also be used for routing in waterway and railway networks.
By dynamically taking account of vehicle properties (e.g. height, length, width, weight) TRE calculates the best route for your vehicle. TRE is used today, among other things, as an integrated part of the public portal for travel planning in several European countries, as well as by local authorities and government bodies working to improve traffic flow and reduce environmental impact.
Furthermore, TRE is used by industrial actors with the aim of optimizing the flow of goods e.g. in the forest industry.
TRE is also the technical base for Triona’s Distance calculation service
Point to point
TRE supports calculation of the best route from A to B with an arbitrary number of via points.
Distance matrix
TRE supports calculation of a distance matrix from one source to many destinations.
Driving instructions
From the calculated best route, TRE can create textual driving instructions for visualization of the route.
Customized routing
Customized routes for different vehicles can be calculated. The vehicle’s properties (i.e. height, weight, width) are given in the request and compared to the road net’s during the routing.
Dynamic information
Via integration TRE can automatically update information from external sources, i.e. regarding traffic information or toll stations.
Energy consumption
TRE predicts the energy consumption for the optimized route. Based on the energy consumption and fuel-specific emission factors, the route's climate impact can be calculated.
