TRE - Bike Router
TRE Bike Router uses an energy model to optimize the route choice. The energy model uses height information in the underlying road net to calculate the energy required to cycle different routes. With the possibility to request a route for a relaxed, normal or strong biker TRE returns a route optimized for speed and effort, including the estimated travel time and energy consumption (Kcal).
Examples of benefits:
- More efficient travel planning
- Smoother travel, as stand-alone travel planning or as a part of traveling with public transport
- Improved customer service, people (arrival precision and information)
- Improved customer service, goods (deliver precision and information)
- Favour and encourage traveling by bike and walk
- Examples of users
Examples of users:
- Municipalities
- Transport authorities
- Traffic principals
Routing across open surfaces
TRE – BikeRouter supports routing across open surfaces (where the data source contains no road links). This gives a behaviour very close to how a biker/walker would generally act in reality and more realistic route choices and route information.
One to many calculations
TRE supports fast and efficient distance matrix calculations between one source and many destinations or opposite, which is very useful for example when chosing between several combinations of walk/bike and public transport routes.
